Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we’re asked most often at Kobodi Wellness Studio in Balwyn North, from health fund rebates and Medicare care plans to what happens at your first visit and where to park. Can’t find what you’re looking for? Call us on 03 9816 3589 or email hello@kobodi.com.

Booking and your first visit

No. You can book directly with any of our practitioners without a GP referral. You’ll only need paperwork from your doctor if you’re using a Medicare care plan, and for WorkSafe or TAC claims your claim needs to be approved first. Both are explained under “Fees, rebates and funding” below.

You can book online at any time, or call us on 03 9816 3589 during opening hours. Pilates and clinical exercise classes are booked through PunchPass. If you’re not sure whether a dietitian is right for you, you can book a free discovery call first.

Your first physiotherapy appointment is a 45-minute initial consultation. We’ll talk through your medical history, lifestyle and goals, then assess your movement, strength and joint function to find the source of your symptoms. We’ll explain your diagnosis clearly and start hands-on treatment in the same session, which may include joint mobilisation, soft tissue work or dry needling.

You’ll leave with a personalised plan, including home exercises, an estimated timeline and advice for managing your injury day to day. See Fees & Billings for more detail on each appointment type.

Please wear comfortable clothing you can move freely in. It also helps to bring:

  • your Medicare card and private health fund card
  • your GP care plan or referral, if you have one
  • any relevant scans, X-ray or specialist reports
  • recent blood test results, if you’re seeing our dietitian

An initial dietitian consultation is 60 minutes and follow-up appointments are 30 minutes. Your dietitian will review your medical history, eating habits and goals, and give you a practical, personalised plan. Not sure where to start? Book a free discovery call to talk it through first.

We’re open Monday to Friday 9am to 7pm, and Saturday 9am to 12pm. We’re closed on Sundays.

We’re at 2a Tannock Street, Balwyn North VIC 3104, in Greythorn Central. Public parking is free for up to 2 hours in the car park next to the building on Tannock Street. It can fill up at peak times, so please allow an extra 5 to 10 minutes to find a spot.

For treatments and 1:1 Pilates appointments, we charge 50% of the session fee for cancellations made less than 12 hours before your appointment, and the full fee if you don’t attend without letting us know. Clinical Pilates classes need 24 hours’ notice, otherwise the full class fee is charged or a class credit is forfeited. Read our full cancellation policy.

Fees, rebates and funding

Yes. We have HICAPS in the clinic, so if you have extras cover you can claim your rebate on the spot and only pay the gap. We’re also part of the nib First Choice network for physiotherapy. How much you get back depends on your fund and level of cover, so it’s worth checking with them before your visit.

For Pilates and Onero class packs, health fund rebates are claimed after you complete the pack. We’ll give you a receipt to take to your health fund.

Yes. If you have a chronic condition, your GP may give you a Chronic Condition Management Plan (CCMP), previously called an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan. This can give you a Medicare rebate for up to five allied health sessions per calendar year, such as physiotherapy or dietetics.

The out-of-pocket fee for care plan appointments depends on your practitioner:

  • Associate Physiotherapist: $30 for your initial appointment, reviews bulk billed
  • Senior Physiotherapist: $40 for initial and review appointments
  • Principal Physiotherapist: $50 for initial and review appointments
  • Dietitian: $30 for your initial appointment, reviews bulk billed

Please bring your care plan and referral to your first appointment.

Yes, we see NDIS participants who are self-managed or plan-managed. This applies to all of our services except remedial massage. Please contact us before booking so we can check your plan and arrange invoicing.

Yes. We can bill your WorkSafe insurer directly once your claim has been approved for treatment and you’ve reached the treatment threshold. If the insurer rejects the claim, you’ll need to pay for your appointment and seek reimbursement from them yourself. The out-of-pocket fee is the same as for Medicare care plan appointments (see above).

Yes. We can bill the TAC directly once your claim has been approved for treatment and you’ve reached the treatment threshold. If the TAC rejects the claim, you’ll need to pay for your appointment and seek reimbursement from them yourself. The out-of-pocket fee is the same as for Medicare care plan appointments (see above).

Yes. If you have a Home Care Package through My Aged Care, please call us on 03 9816 3589 to arrange access to our allied health services. Our dietitian also accepts Eating Disorder Treatment and Management Plans.

Our services

Yes. Before your first 1:1 session or small-group class, you’ll have a Clinical Exercise Assessment with one of our physiotherapists. This makes sure your program is safe and tailored to your goals. Classes have a maximum of four people and are run by physiotherapists, using equipment such as the reformer and trapeze table.

Onero™ is an evidence-based exercise program for people with osteoporosis or low bone density. It starts with a 45-minute one-on-one assessment, where we review your bone density scans and medical history and test your strength and balance. After one or two individual sessions to learn the technique, you’ll join small-group classes of up to five people. Classes run for 40 minutes, and we recommend attending twice a week.

Yes. Our dietitian offers paediatric nutrition support for issues such as fussy eating, growth concerns, food allergies and gut health. Our dance physiotherapists also provide pre-pointe assessments to check whether young dancers are ready to start pointe work.

Yes. Our principal physiotherapist is also a lactation consultant and offers combined physiotherapy and lactation consultations. These cover your postnatal recovery, such as pelvic floor health and abdominal separation, alongside feeding and latch support for your baby.
