Physiotherapists aid in the recovery of injuries, the reduction of pain and stiffness, the enhancement of mobility, and the prevention of additional injury. They pay attention to your needs in order to create a treatment plan that is unique to your situation. You don’t need a doctor’s referral to see a physiotherapist because they are first-contact practitioners. Furthermore, in order to plan and manage treatment for a given injury/condition, physiotherapists, doctors, and other health professionals frequently collaborate as part of a team.

What to expect at a Physiotherapy appointment

A physiotherapy appointment will start with a comprehensive verbal (subjective) and visual (objective) assessment. This assessment is focused on identifying the cause of your pain/injury as well as other contributing factors.

Following the assessment, your physiotherapist will provide an explanation of your condition as well as what treatment methods would be beneficial in improving your condition.

Once you have understood the proposed treatment, your physiotherapist will then commence the treatment, which depending on your condition, can include: soft tissue therapy, joint mobilisations, trigger point therapy, taping and exercise prescription,

After the treatment has been completed, your physiotherapist will then discuss with you the proposed treatment plan in order to manage your injury independently and to prevent re-injury.

At the end of the session, there will be a discussion about your treatment plan and scheduling of your follow up appointment. You might also like to ask any questions to your physiotherapist regarding your injury and management.
