Acupuncture

Initially, the practitioner will obtain a detailed verbal assessment of your presenting condition as well as your lifestyle, diet and other relevant factors. This is usually followed by an objective assessment which may include a tongue assessment and/or pulse assessment. Based on their findings, the practitioner will then determine where they will needle and/or apply cupping. Before they commence any treatment your practitioner will give you an explanation of your condition and what treatment methods would be helpful.

Depending on where the needles are inserted, you may need to uncover certain areas and lie either face up/down/side or sitting. Our acupuncturist will use single-use, disposable and sterile needles. You should feel the needles inserted but you won’t feel any pain. Once inserted, the needles may remain there for several minutes.

To have the best effect, acupuncture generally involves several weekly or fortnightly treatments. Most courses consist of up to 12 sessions. An initial session is 60 minutes and the subsequent session usually lasts about 30 minutes. The number of treatments will vary depending on your individual condition.

Initial Consultation – $130

Osteopathy

The osteopath will enquire about your symptoms, health issues, and any prior medical treatment you may have had at your initial appointment. The osteopath will then evaluate you to find any issue areas in your body, such as spine-related weakness, soreness, and stress.

Following the consultation, your osteopath may go through the condition that needs to be fixed and what is covered by your treatment plan. In order to more accurately diagnose the issue and suggest the most effective course of osteopathy therapy, your osteopath may, if required, send you to a general practitioner for exams like blood work or an MRI scan.

To aid the body in healing itself spontaneously, an osteopath works to restore the joints’ normal function and balance. They employ a number of techniques to reduce pain, improve range of motion, and stimulate blood flow as they use their hands to heal the body. These techniques include:
  • deep tissue massage
  • stretching stiff joints and restoring the range of motion — joints are moved through a series of movements
  • deep quick thrusts to the spinal column that produce a clicking noise much like cracking your neck and knuckles
